About Us

Meet the Owners!

My name is Sumathi and I am very excited to be working with Aruna in starting WRTS Bellevue! Currently, I work as a clinical dietician at a hospital and live with my husband, mom, and two kids. I love to travel with friends and family to appreciate and enjoy all the cultures around the world. At home, I like to watch science documentaries and medical dramas, like ER, on TV.

My friendship with Aruna began over 20 years ago when our daughters began playing together at the park. Since then our families have bonded as we have enjoyed, learned, and supported each other. Our relationship has become more of a family now.

I have family members on the spectrum. I have seen and learned a lot from Aruna and my family about the challenges that are added when wanting to provide for a child on the spectrum. One of mine and Aruna’s constant discussions have been establishing some mentorship or training programs for kids on the spectrum. WRTS seems to be a perfect fit to provide a wonderful and safe environment to help children learn, grow, and have fun.

I’m a mom first and an educator next. This means that I am constantly learning and trying to incorporate new things that will help my family and me to grow.

I have been married for 26 years to my husband, Srinivas, a software engineer and we have two kids.  My daughter, Sneha, graduated from the University of Washington in 2019 and is now working as an RBT in an autism clinic.  My son, Skanda, was diagnosed before his 4th birthday and is now attending classes at a community college. Our lives revolve around our son for the most part :).  Having an older child on the spectrum poses other questions like independent living skills, employability, and socially appropriate hangouts.

This got me thinking and I wanted to do something that would include my two areas of experience and passion (autism and education) in a productive and service-oriented way.  Fortuitously, WRTS fell into my lap and I knew that I wanted to be part of this family.

The mission of WRTS aligns beautifully with my ideas and I feel this is the perfect puzzle piece that will fit in with my goals and aspirations. In my free time, I like to doodle, read, hang out with friends, and enjoy walks with my family which includes our fur baby Koda. Getting to do this with Sumathi is an added bonus.
